On 25th November Professor Allen-Mersh attended the Royal Society of Medicine for a talk entitled “Cancer control in low and middle income countries: New solutions to evolving challenges”. A multidisciplinary faculty of prominent speakers from around the globe discussed the importance of effective cancer control in low and middle-income countries and highlighted the magnitude of the disparities and issues that currently exist.

Surgical skills teaching session September 2019
On 24th September Professor Allen-Mersh led a surgical skills teaching session in endoanal anastomosis, laparoscopic mesh placement and fixation (in a trans-abdominal preperitoneal hernia scenario) with laparoscopic suturing.
Talk at the Royal College of Physicians
On 11th September 2019 Professor Allen-Mersh was invited to give a talk about medico-legal issues in colorectal surgery/gastroenterology at the Inspire Medilaw Conference in London.
RSM talk
Professor Allen-Mersh attended an informative talk at the Royal Society of Medicine entitled ‘Emergency Medicine and Health System strengthening’ on 2nd September 2019.
