Recent training courses / talks attended

On 14th April Professor Allen-Mersh attended a talk at the Royal Society of Medicine entitled Identifying and Embedding Learning from Claims and Inquests. He attended a skills teaching session at St Mary’s Hospital on 5th May. There was a visit to Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust at the University Hospital Lewisham on 17th May and a talk on The Future of Medicine – the Role of Doctors in 2015 at the Royal Society of Medicine on 19th May.

On 15th March 2016 Professor Allen-Mersh visited North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust to attend a multi-professional Trust-wide Review.

He also attended a talk on 18th March at the Royal Society of Medicine entitled Current Management of Intestinal Failure in the United Kingdom.

    Professor Allen-Mersh has edited two text books of surgery, and contributed chapters to more than 20 textbooks of surgery, cancer and gastrointestinal disorders. He has published more than a hundred papers in peer-reviewed medical journals.
    Training, qualifications and accreditation as an expert witness
    Professor Allen-Mersh initially attended a Bond Solon Expert Witness Training Course in 1994. He was a founder member of the Expert Witness Institute in 1996. He is a member of the Faculty of Expert Witnesses for Doctors. He is an associate member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). He has regularly attended teaching and update conferences on personal injury assessment and medico-legal practice. He has given invited talks on various aspects of gastrointestinal conditions at the annual meetings of AVMA and APIL. He attended the Specialist Info Advanced Medico-Legal Course in June 2015.
